We are looking for a CTO with Digital Media experience to join the team on-site in Hamburg, Germany.

The purpose of this CTO role is to lead our technology strategy across the Group by translating business goals into meaningful digital experiences and keeping up with the current best practices in the field of software/app development. You will need to drive the technical culture in an approach that focuses on Scale, Robust Product Performance, and Ease of Use.

You will also be responsible for training and quality management; guaranteeing that deadlines, budgets, and service levels are met, and results delivered. This includes driving accountability for system deployments and monitoring across all operational pillars related to technology.

The ideal candidate needs to have experience with digital media (video or music streaming, gamification, user-generated content).

Key responsibilities include:

  • Build and implement an ambitious strategy to deliver hyper-growth in a scalable manner in the existing Telco business sector in addition to creating a penetration plan to expand beyond Telcos.
  • Set ambitious objectives and drive results through effective teamwork; maintain a consistent focus on continuous improvement to ensure the function achieves KPIs and operates in best practice.
  • Build a culture of high performance and engagement; through effective leadership; mentoring, developing, and retaining superstar talent.
  • Drive the design of a robust and scalable architecture, while using the latest technologies and cloud providers.
  • Ensure proper implementation of a technical roadmap/feature set aligned with the product & commercial requirement.
  • Own the system operation of our platform, services, and applications to meet all defined SLAs in the most cost-efficient & automated manner.
  • Define all relevant IT processes and workflows to ensure the different teams across the world are working in an effective way and the quality of our service towards our internal/external clients is always at the highest level.
  • Lead and own the troubleshooting and resolution of critical technical issues across all systems.
  • Effectively collaborate with internal and external customers on business-related support activities for troubleshooting/Issue resolution.
  • Act as the face of technology for the Group; clearly communicating the technology strategy/plan that reflects the key business goals to shareholders and investors.

Requirements

The ideal candidate needs to have experience with digital media (video or music streaming, gamification, user-generated content).

The ideal candidate has exceptionally high ownership, excellent critical thinking skills and the ability to work with agility in a fast-paced environment.

They would also be insanely focused on demonstrating excellence in service delivery and problem-solving; breaking down complex information into understandable and actionable items.  You will be a visionary team leader who is self-driven and able to work independently.

Must-Have’s:

  • 15 years of experience in IT
  • Managed several teams with dozens of IT professionals in a corporate environment
  • Digital media experience (video or music streaming, gamification, user-generated content).

Details:

  • 15+ years of experience with an excellent understanding of different working models like Agile/Scrum methodologies
  • Direct experience with modern software design principles and technologies, including development for mobile & web applications
  • Ability to drive accountability for systems deployment and monitoring across operational surfaces (ITSM / ITL)
  • Proven expertise in quantitative data analysis, implementation, operation, and evolution of IT systems and their specifications
  • Experience in software development lifecycle tools such as Jira and CI/CD processes & tools like Jenkins
  • Ability to troubleshoot various technologies, from a simple command line, databased to complex programming languages (Java, Node.JS, MySQL, MongoDB) due to hands-on experience
  • Experience in virtualization/container deployments like Docker, Nomad, and Kubernetes.
  • Knowledge of automation/configuration management systems such as Ansible, puppet, terraform, or other
  • Extensive experience of using cloud service providers like Microsoft Azure and/or AWS from an architecture & costs point of view.
  • Any kind of experience with data warehouse systems (Snowflake) and the process (like ETLs with Glue) would be a plus.
  • Experience managing international teams manager
  • Experience establishing and working with Outsourcing/Outstaffing Partners
  • Strong communication skills, able to translate complex technical stories into understandable and meaningful messages to the employees and senior management alike
  • Shareholder and investor relationship management skills
  • Willingness to travel, due to distributed teams
  • Background in carrier billing, content aggregation, and white-labeled digital products would be an advantage.
